Last week, I had the pleasure of attending a Sherwin Williams lunch and learn, where they shared their 2026 Color Forecast and introduced their Color of the Year, Universal Khaki. It was inspiring to hear firsthand what trends they are seeing in interiors for the year ahead and how we can thoughtfully incorporate them into our client projects.

Universal Khaki is a versatile, warm neutral that feels timeless and welcoming. It works beautifully on walls, trim, and cabinetry, and pairs seamlessly with both soft neutrals and richer accent colors. It’s the kind of shade that allows a space to feel cozy without feeling heavy and provides the perfect backdrop for bold furnishings, artwork, and personal touches.
In addition to Universal Khaki, Sherwin Williams highlighted their 2026 Color Mix Forecast, which provide a full spectrum of inspiration for interiors:
Frosted Tints – Soft, airy hues that bring a sense of lightness and calm to a space.

Sunbaked Hues – Warm, earthy tones inspired by natural light and outdoor landscapes.

Restorative Darks – Deep, moody shades that add drama and sophistication while feeling grounded.

Foundational Neutrals – Classic, versatile neutrals that act as the perfect base for layering textures, materials, and accent colors.

Attending events like this is always a reminder of how much thought goes into color forecasting and why it’s such an important part of our design work. These insights allow us to help our clients make choices that are both stylish and enduring rather than following trends that fade quickly.
Whether you are planning a refresh or just love thinking about color, Universal Khaki and the 2026 palette provide plenty of inspiration for creating spaces that feel warm, modern, and welcoming.
