When we first stepped into this home, the kitchen felt like a time capsule from the 1980s. It was dark and closed off, with eight-foot popcorn ceilings and a galley layout that made cooking feel cramped. While it had served the family for years, it just wasn’t working for the way they live today.

Our clients wanted to open things up and let the natural light from the front of their home finally shine through. That light is one of the home’s best features, but the old layout completely blocked it. Our goal was simple: create a kitchen that feels bright, welcoming, and functional in every way.

We started by opening the kitchen to the family room, completely changing the flow of the space. Now, the kitchen feels like the true heart of the home. It’s open, connected, and filled with warmth.
Right beside the kitchen, we transformed an underused pantry and laundry room into something special. The pantry now features custom drawers, hidden cabinetry, and a relocated microwave, giving our clients much-needed storage and better organization. It’s amazing how a few thoughtful changes can turn a cluttered area into one of the most functional spaces in a home.

Behind the pantry, we opened up what was once a plywood-floored storage area off the garage. It had been used for dog food and a few tools, but now it serves as a beautiful new mudroom and laundry room. This space includes a built-in bench, closed storage, a large sink, and a stacked washer and dryer that makes the most of every inch.

People often ask me what the best part of a kitchen renovation is, and my answer never changes. It’s giving people functionality in their kitchen. So many homes were never laid out correctly the first time, and that lack of planning makes everyday life harder than it should be. When we fix those design challenges, something amazing happens. Cooking becomes fun again. Organization makes sense. And people actually want to spend time in the space that once frustrated them.

We loved partnering with Armor Homes for the construction on this project, and Tara Carter Photography captured every detail beautifully. The end result is a bright, functional home that finally feels connected and complete.

If you’ve been thinking about renovating your kitchen or improving the layout of your home, we’d love to help you create a space that works beautifully for the way you live. And if you know someone who’s planning a kitchen remodel, please share this project with them — it might be just the inspiration they’ve been looking for.
