Below is a kitchen design from one of my client’s home. Learn how we achieved her vision.
My client was building a new home and had three things in mind for her new space: storage, wood tones and non-white cabinets.
As with all of my clients, I asked her to pin her favorite kitchen designs to a kitchen pinterest board. This always is helpful when narrowing down the style you want and staying focussed on the end goal.
It also helps to be able to point out design elements that you love and want in your space.
Based off of the overall look my client was going for, I shared this kitchen with her by Stonington Cabinetry and Design. It met all of her wood and color requirements.
I printed this photo and a few other views for her and we slid them into a binder.
Everytime it was time to make a deselection for her kitchen, both she and I would go back to these photos.
Below is a look into her kitchen a few weeks before closing.
We started by selecting these French Oak engineered hardwood floors to carry throughout her entire home.
This laid the foundational color for her 10’x5′ island.
The island is custom made out of alder and stained Provincial with a white square edge quartz top.
We worked a long time on paint colors for this kitchen.
At the end of the day, every color by Magnolia is stunning and my client fell in love with several gray options.
We held up swatches in the daylight, sunlight, on cloudy days, and after several samples painted on the walls…..
Here is where this kitchen landed.
Cabinets: Sunday Stroll by Magnolia This is a beautiful gray. Almost has a putty tone to it. No purple shows through on this one.
Walls: Shiplap by Magnolia If you looking for a neutral paint color for your walls and are ready to move from the ever loved Agreeable Gray to something lighter, this is your color. It has a hint of gray to it, but will leave your space feeling warm, light and airy.
Trim and Ceiling: True White by Magnolia a perfect compliment to any color you choose.
All paint was color matched at Sherwin Williams due to the fact that Magnolia paint is only sold in the largest quantity in a 1 gallon volume.
Sherwin Williams was super helpful in the match of the paints name and number.
And after using this method throughout this entire home, I can say, they color match Magnolia paints well.
And I would recommend this method.
We selected this ceramic handcrafted glazed subway tile and paired it with white grout to keep the design simple and classic.
We carried the wood from the floors and the island onto the hood range and the pantry door to tie it all together.
I love how this kitchen turned out. I’ll share more in the coming weeks as hardware has been added and counter stools are on order.
It just goes to show that you can create the kitchen of your dreams if you keep the vision and inspiration ever before you.
