In this post you will learn how I created this outdoor living space and how you can replicate it in your own space.
A client reached out to me and asked me to help her design an inviting outdoor living space.
She and her husband have a deck off the back of their home that overlooks a quiet peaceful wooded area.
Their end goal was to expand their living space by making their deck larger and covering it with a roof.
This would provide additional space for them to work, watch TV and host their family and friends.
Here is what the space looked like during the building process.
Love that they were able to remove a window and add a double french door so as not to lose light into the interior of their home.
Because their home is stucco, removing the window would require a patch job in the stucco and the contractor felt like it might not look cohesive.
They opted to add board and batten to this space and I love how it turned out.
And how about these coffered ceilings with beadboard?! The recessed lighting and ceilings fans ensure that they have light and a breeze as needed.
For design, they needed a separate living space and a dining space.
Based on the wall space and their functional needs, we opted to place the living space directly out of the french doors.
I grounded this space with an 8×10 outdoor rug and this four-piece outdoor set.
I then added in some lanterns, pillows, a large tray, coasters, a faux green fern, and an olive tree in a basket.
For the dining area, I brought in the same 8×10 rug to ground this space and make it its own.
They needed seating for six and this round table and chairs were the perfect fit. What I loved most about this set is that it looks and feels very high-end but at a fraction of the cost.
We topped the table off with a potted ZZ plant. They are almost drought-resistant (water once a week).
They love the hot humid Georgia climate, just be sure to move indoors once it gets to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
This space was completed this past Spring. My clients have enjoyed it through Spring, Summer and now Fall. Always makes my day to hear that people are enjoying their spaces.
