A Neutral Paint Color Palette That Adds Depth Without Feeling Dark

There are some color combinations that just work, the kind that feel layered and interesting without ever feeling overwhelming. This is one of those pairings.

We’re currently using Sherwin Williams Homburg Gray, Drift of Mist, and Pure White in a project, and it’s the kind of palette that has depth, softness, and just enough contrast to feel thoughtful.

We’ll be sharing the full project soon, but this is one worth saving if you’ve been thinking about a paint refresh.

Homburg Gray (SW 7622)

LRV: 14
Homburg Gray is a deep, moody green gray that brings instant richness to a space. Its lower LRV gives it that grounded, saturated feel, while the undertones lean green with a subtle warmth. It reads beautifully as a statement color without feeling too heavy or cold.

Drift of Mist (SW 9166)

LRV: 69
Drift of Mist is one of those go to soft neutrals that works almost anywhere. It’s a light greige with very subtle warm undertones, making it feel calm and easy on the eyes. It bridges the gap perfectly between deeper tones and crisp whites.

Pure White (SW 7005)

LRV: 84
Pure White is a clean, versatile white that doesn’t feel stark. It has the slightest hint of warmth, which keeps it from feeling too bright or clinical. It’s a favorite for trim, cabinetry, and walls when you want a fresh, soft backdrop.

Why This Combination Works
What makes this palette stand out is the balance. You have the depth of Homburg Gray anchoring the space, Drift of Mist softening the transitions, and Pure White keeping everything light and fresh.

It’s a combination that feels elevated but still livable, perfect if you’re wanting to introduce more depth into your home without going too bold or dramatic.

If you’ve been craving a change, this is a palette that gives you range while still feeling cohesive and timeless.

Stay tuned, we can’t wait to show you how it all comes together in the full project.
