Outdoor Living Spaces We Love: Inspiration from Our Recent Projects

Outdoor Living

June 1, 2026

There is something about dining outdoors that makes even an ordinary weeknight feel special. Whether it’s a family dinner on the patio, morning coffee on the porch, or hosting friends for a summer cookout, creating an inviting outdoor dining space allows you to enjoy more of the season.

As designers, we look for outdoor pieces that balance style, comfort, and durability. The best outdoor dining spaces feel like an extension of your home’s interior—comfortable enough to linger long after the meal is finished.

Start with Comfortable Seating

The most beautiful dining table won’t get much use if the chairs aren’t comfortable. We always encourage clients to prioritize seating that invites guests to stay awhile. Cushioned dining chairs, woven materials, and supportive backs can make all the difference when you’re hosting long summer evenings.

Choose Materials That Last

Outdoor furniture works hard. Sun, rain, pollen, and everyday use all take a toll. We tend to gravitate toward teak, powder-coated aluminum, and high-performance outdoor fabrics because they age beautifully and require less maintenance.

A piece that looks just as good three summers from now is always worth the investment.

Layer in Lighting

One of the easiest ways to elevate an outdoor dining area is with thoughtful lighting. String lights, lanterns, and portable rechargeable lamps create warmth and ambiance that instantly makes a space feel welcoming.

Good lighting extends the evening and encourages everyone to stay gathered around the table a little longer.

Don’t Forget the Finishing Touches

Outdoor rugs, planters, and serving pieces help bring personality to the space. We love adding potted herbs, simple centerpieces, and seasonal flowers to make outdoor dining feel intentional without being overly styled.

Our Favorite Outdoor Dining Philosophy

The best outdoor dining spaces aren’t necessarily the biggest or most expensive. They’re the ones that get used. Focus on comfort, durability, and creating a space that encourages connection.

This season, we’re embracing slower dinners, longer conversations, and making the most of every opportunity to gather outside.
